- Dryer exhaust ducts should be independent of all other systems.
- They shall convey the moisture to the outdoors and shall terminate on the
outside of the home in accordance with the manufacturer's installation
instructions and
- They shall be equipped with a back-draft damper.
- Screens shall not be installed at the termination of the duct because
screens and screws can trap lint.
- Exhaust ducts shall be constructed rigid metal ducts having smooth
interior surfaces with joints running in the direction of the air flow and not
be connected with sheet-metal screws or any means which extend into the duct.
- The maximum length of an exhaust duct is 25 ft. minus 2.5 ft per each 45°
bend.
- Flexible connectors from dryer to ductwork must be metal and <8
ft.
